A young female Gyrfalcon (jaktfalk) resting north on the island was a nice encounter at the start of the week.

A young Peregrine (vandrefalk) also rested nearby and gave a great opportunity to compare the two species.

A Kestrell (tårnfalk) was also observed midweek.

Monday came with westerly winds and offered excellent seabird-watching, and a Sabine’s Gull (sabinemåke) was the highlight of the day. A few photos on extreme distance gave decent documentation.

Wader migration is coming to an end, but still a few Curlev Sandpipers (tundrasnipe) around the first days of the week.

Large flocks of Golden Plovers (heilo) have also rested on the island.

Not the best conditions for ringing, but on Friday we got the surprise of the season so far: a Hoopoe (hærfugl) found its way to the nets!

Not much movement of passerines this week, but two Yellow-browed Warblers (gulbrynsangere), where found (one was caught and ringed).

A new Spotted Flycatcher (gråfluesnapper) showed up.

A few Ring Ozel (ringtrost) was still around, after a good run the week before.

Dominating passerines were Chiffchaffs (gransanger)…

… Northern Wheatears (steinskvett)…

… and Twites (bergirisk).

Now we are awaiting a couple of stormy days before a promising week 40, with easterly breeze during midweek. Stay tuned!
